Proprietary Variety Management and Dunford Pastry have launched a licensed dessert that is made with Cosmic Crisp branded apples.
The licensed Apple Filled Pastries mark Dunford as the first U.S. retail brand to introduce a dessert that features the Cosmic Crisp apple variety.
Developed by Proprietary Variety Management over 20 years through Washington State University’s tree fruit program, the Cosmic Crisp apple is known for its balanced flavor, texture, juiciness and bright-colored exterior.
These qualities make it an ideal choice for a variety of uses including snacking, baked goods, cocktails, juice and more.
“The signature sweet and tart flavor of the Cosmic Crisp apple pairs perfectly with Dunford Pastry’s delicate, flaky crust,” said Proprietary Variety Management chief marketing officer, Kathryn Grandy. “It’s the perfect indulgence for everyday moments and a great example of how Cosmic Crisp apples serve as a star ingredient in a wide range of retail products.”
Ahead of the licensed pastries retail debut, the two companies held a limited-edition Valentine’s Day promotion and giveaway event titled ‘Sweets for My Sweetheart’.
Available to fans across the United States, the exclusive giveaway event gave three winning contestants a range of themed prizes including boxes of apples, trays of pastries, limited-edition plushies and branded t-shirts.
Significantly boosting consumer awareness for both brands, the Sweets for My Sweetheart promotional event ran across the social media channels for Cosmic Crisp and Dunford Pastry.
It was also prominently featured in Salt Lake City, as the first market where the licensed product has been launched.
The Dunford x Cosmic Crisp apple filled pastry is currently available at select retailers across the country.
