Mattel Gives Back with 80th Anniversary Campaign

February 7, 2025

By Allison Watkinson

TLL Reporter

Mattel is kicking off its 80th anniversary celebration with a year-long philanthropic campaign titled 80 Moments for 80 Years.

Taking place throughout 2025, the anniversary campaign will build on Mattel’s long philanthropic history by donating resources and funds to over 80 different nonprofit organizations around the world.

The company also plans to launch 80 different charitable activations through its Play it Forward program.

These activations will span a number of categories including in-kind donations, volunteer initiatives and strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations.

Products of Change Expands Its Impact with Spring Fair Sessions and FSPA Partnership

Fo the United States, the Mattel Children’s Foundation plans to celebrate 20 years of partnership with Save the Children by supporting the organization’s Make Summer Fair initiative.

The Make Summer Fair initiative was created to help fill critical gaps in early education for low-income families in rural America by providing various ways for kids to learn and engage during the summer.

Additional charitable partners for the US region include the RMHC, Easterseals, Make a Wish, Feed the Children, Good+Foundation, Girls Inc. and more.

In Germany, Mattel has signed agreements with Tafel Deutschland (Food Bank Dutchland), Stützende Hände (Supporting Hand), Deutsche Kinderkrebsstiftung (German Child Cancer Foundation) and BILD hilft e.V.’s ‘A Heart for Children’ (Ein Herz für Kinder).

The company will be announcing its roster of nonprofit partners throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East at a later date.

In Latin America, Mattel has signed on to support Save the Children, Aldeias Infantis in Brazil and COCREA in Colombia.

For the Asia Pacific and China, Mattel will support Starlight Children’s Foundation in Australia, Rotary Club of Hangzhou in China, Special Olympics in Hong Kong, The Kindness Collective in New Zealand, SAO BIEN in Vietnam and both Access India and Premnidhi Special School in India.

“Since Mattel’s founding in 1945, giving back has been at the heart of our mission, embedded in its culture and amplified through the purpose of its brands,” said Mattel VP, Nancy Molenda. “As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we’re continuing to Play it Forward by partnering with over 80 of our longstanding nonprofit partners.”

In celebration of the International Day of Play in June, Mattel will launch its fifth annual Play it Forward Global Volunteer week with activations through its Camp Mattel program and health-focused initiatives in Washington, D.C.
