Mattel has partnered with the Katseye girl group for a musical Monster High collaboration and custom doll promotion.
The Monster High collaboration offers an updated version of the brand’s Fright Song anthem by Katseye, along with a licensed music video that features each member’s monster personas.
Katseye’s new version of the Fright Night anthem offers fresh vocals, a strong tempo and updated song lyrics that celebrate themes of individuality and empowerment.
For the Fright Night music video, the group is depicted as custom-created Monster High characters inspired by each member’s heritage and personal strengths.
These monster alter-egos include Sophia as a Manananggal, Manon as a Mami Wata, Lara as a Rakshasa, Yoonchae as a Jangsanbeom, Megan as a Húli Jīng and Daniela as a Werewolf.
Set in a stylish Monster High-inspired setting, the music video features a mix of choreography, cinematic visuals and dramatic lighting effects designed to showcase the Katseye monsters.
“Monster High has always stood for celebrating what makes you unique and using your voice to remind every ghoul that they belong, which is exactly what we try to do through our music,” said Katseye. “Having grown up fans of Monster High dolls and content, recreating Fright Song and designing our very own monster identities has been such a dream. We hope the EyeKons feel the love and energy we poured into this project.”
To mark the collaboration, Monster High created and gifted unique dolls of their monster alter egos to the members of the Katseye group.
The exclusive dolls were created to serve as a tribute to the creative process behind the collaboration.
“Katseye embodies our core values of Monster High – bold creativity, fearless self-expression, and a commitment to lifting up others,” said Mattel head, Krista Berger. “Katseye grew up as fans of the brand. We’re thrilled that this collaboration brings our iconic Monster High anthem to life in a whole new way, while continuing our mission to create a world where everyone is proud to be their authentic self.”
The new Fright Song song and video is available across global streaming sites, social media channels and digital download platforms.
Katseye is represented through a joint venture partnership between Hybe Corporation, a South Korean entertainment company, and UMG’s US-based record label, Geffen Records.
The group was first developed and introduced to fans through the Netflix original series, Pop Star Academy.
