Well, here’s a licensing deal we’ve never seen before.
Hasbro’s new deal sees it licensing the ‘Free Parking’ space in its Monopoly game to offer shoppers free parking in real life.
As part of Hasbro’s new ‘All is Fair’ Monopoly campaign, the company has signed a deal with parking reservation company SpotHero to offer 1,000 free parking spaces for Black Friday shoppers. The deal is valid in five metropolitan US cities on Friday, November 24, including 100 free spots in New York City, 400 in Los Angeles, 100 in Chicago, 100 in Philadelphia, and 400 in Seattle.
In addition, Hasbro and SpotHero are offering 10% off parking spaces nationwide through the promo code MONOPOLY10.
New and existing SpotHero members can simply go to https://spothero.com/about/monopoly. Bookings for free parking will be available on November 20 on the same URL.
The shoppers then find the parking lot they want, and copy the promo code associated to that lot. The reservation time and date will be set automatically for November 24 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. To redeem the MONOPOLY FREE PARKING pass, add the locations promo code and your information for checkout. The parking pass will be sent via email using the address you entered.
When users arrive, they can simply follow the instructions included on their pass, which typically involves scanning a QR code, adding a license number, or showing the pass to the attendant.
The free parking is available at specific lots in the five cities involved in the promo, as follows: New York City (50 W. 44th St.), Los Angeles (100 N la Cienega Blvd.), Chicago (50 E. Ohio St, 10 E Grand St.), Philadelphia (1815 Cherry St.), Seattle (1201 3rd St.).
