Restaurant Licensing: SEGA’s Tasty Video Game Collaboration With Shin-Sen-Gumi

February 17, 2023

By Allison Watkinson

TLL Reporter

SEGA has partnered with Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurants for a licensed promotion featuring the upcoming Like a Dragon: Ishin! video game.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a samurai-inspired action-adventure game from SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The game is a remake of the original Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! video game that was released for Japanese audiences in 2014. The game follows a samurai on a quest for justice in the late Edo period of Japanese history.

Like a Dragon: Ishin is scheduled for release on consoles and PCs worldwide on Feb. 21, 2023.

The licensed promotion with Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurants will include Like a Dragon: Ishin! character standees, window murals and a limited-edition meal set inspired by characters from the game.

The limited-edition Ishin! Samurai Meal Set includes a Hakata Ramen dish, a choice of a karaage chicken or takoyaki side, and a green tea. Customers who purchase the Ishin! Samurai Meal Set will receive one of four collectible coasters while supplies last.

The event will take place at six Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurant locations across Los Angeles and Orange County. The participating Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurants include the Little Tokyo, Irvine, Gardena, Rosemead, Sawtelle and Fountain Valley locations.

Shin-Sen-Gumi is a chain of Japanese restaurants based in California. Since its founding in 1992, the Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurant group has expanded to multiple locations throughout the region. The restaurant’s menu features Hakata-style ramen, yakitori, hot pots, rice bowls and more.

The Like a Dragon: Ishin! licensing promotion will take place from Feb. 21 to March 6, 2023.
