Retail Licensing: Care Bears Popping Up at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann

February 17, 2023

Sagoo Licensing has brokered a deal for Cloudco Entertainment to launch a Care Bears Pop-Up in the Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann department store.

Branded pop-up retail stores have become a significant trend in the licensing industry in the past year. As the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have lifted, more consumers are looking for in-person entertainment experiences which has led to a rise in location-based licensing and retail partnerships.

The new Care Bears pop-up store features a luxury collection from the fashion designer Jimmy Paul, alongside scenes from the Care Bears’ history.

“With this collection, now to be sold at Galeries Lafayette, it truly is a fashion dream come true,” said Paul. “While I was working on the collection, the Care Bears made me smile and reminded me how fun it is to create.”

The Care Bears pop-up store is also featuring free workshops every Saturday from Feb. 11 to March 11, 2023. The workshops include Ephemeral Tattoos by the artist Poulette Magique, Phone Jewelry Creations by Jule & Lily, Tote Bag Customization and Patches on Textile by La Malicieuse, a Polaroid Photo Shoots by the artist Poulette Magique, and Bracelet Letters by the creator Anne Boivin.

The Care Bears’ Parisian pop up store includes an exhibit of the wild Care Bears inspired haute couture gown created last year by Jimmy Paul.

In addition, meet & greet events with the Cheer Bear character are scheduled for Saturdays and Wednesdays until March 4, 2023.

The Paris Haussmann branch of the Galeries Lafayette department store chain is the flagship location of the European retail brand. The Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann store has grown to include 280 stores since it opened in 1894.

“We are thrilled to bring the whimsical world of Care-a-Lot to our fans in France and couldn’t dream up a more fitting place for them to make their debut,” said Cloudco VP, Roubina Tchoboian. “We’ve truly found a home in Galeries Lafayette.”

Cloudco is an entertainment company that produces and distributes multi-platform franchises through its global network of media channels. The company has numerous strategic licensing partnerships with consumer product manufacturers and retailers for its portfolio of entertainment brands.

The Care Bears brand was originally introduced to market in 1982 through a line of consumer products and greeting cards. Since the brand’s debut, The Care Bears have been featured in numerous TV series, feature films, published content, video games, licensed consumer products and more.

In 2019, the brand was revitalized with a new design for the 2D-animated series, Care Bears: Unlock the Magic. Cloudco celebrated the fortieth anniversary of The Care Bears in 2022 with new consumer products collections and a range of toys by Basic Fun.

The Care Bears Pop-Up store is located on on Floor 3 of the Galeries Lafayettes’ Coupole Store until March 16, 2023.
