TV Series Licensing: ZAG Signs ‘Miraculous’ Deal With PMI For Consumer Products

January 19, 2022

Animation studio ZAG has signed a global licensing agreement with PMI for a line of consumer products for the television series Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

The deal for Miraculous-branded consumer products will see new merchandise debut at retail in Summer 2022.

Performance Media Industries (PMI) has a business strategy based on cementing licensing agreements with leading toy companies and partners, while creating new lines of products for toy brands. Distributing worldwide, PMI Ltd was founded in the 1990s. It has a long track record of producing trending lines of collectibles, stationery, and other items at accessible prices.

“We are delighted to finalize our agreement with PMI, a market leader with a unique distribution advantage, reaching multiple points of sale from newsstands and kiosks, to mass market retailers,” said Julian Zag, EVP Global Operations and Head of Consumer Products at ZAG. “With season four of the series now available across the globe, and our US$100M+ animated feature coming out this year, they are the ideal partner to work together with ZAG to bring this extensive line of products to our fans across the globe who are clamoring for more ways to engage with the brand.”

The PMI created consumer product line will include products such as stampers, toppers, coin purses, key chains, plush backpacks and pencil cases. It will also include Matchify card games, stationery and school supplies.

The multiple award-winning Miraculous has attracted a massive fan base across the globe with its diverse, animated characters. The series is ranked by IMDB amongst the Top 10 Best Animated Shows in the last 20 years.

“I was blown away when I saw how much my son loved the show! PMI and ZAG both share the quality of bringing happiness to kids around the world, and ZAG’s Miraculous and PMI’s top quality toy products make a perfect match,” said Omer Dekel, VP of International Sales at PMI Ltd. “We are beyond pleased to add the inspiring characters of this leading brand to our ever growing portfolio, and we will make the most of our wide distribution network to quickly reach all markets covered in the global license.”

The Miraculous fandom spans more than 120 markets worldwide with four seasons of the series now on air. A fifth season is now in production and an animated feature film is also in the works.

Miraculous is the winner of 25 awards, including the 2018 Teen Choice Award for Choice Animated Series. The series follows the adventures of two teenagers with secret identities, who magically transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir.

ZAG America, LLC is a global independent entertainment studio specializing in storytelling across TV, film, and digital platforms. Director and composer Jeremy Zag founded the Zag Kids and Family Entertainment Group in France in 2009. The company expanded to the USA in 2012 with a global brand franchise office in California.
