Corus Debuts New Kids Series Based on Property Brothers

March 2, 2023

By Allison Watkinson

TLL Reporter

Corus Entertainment is debuting a new, animated childrens’ series inspired by the Property Brothers home improvement franchise.

The original 3D-animated series, Builder Brothers Dream Factory, will feature child characters inspired by the reality TV hosts Drew and Jonathan Scott, also known as the Property Brothers. Drew and Jonathan Scott’s Property Brothers brand is a Canadian reality TV franchise that primarily focuses on buying, renovating, and selling homes.

“This series is one of our most personal projects to date,” said Drew Scott. “Now that we have our own kids, we are more attuned to sharing the values our own parents instilled in us, but in a fresh and familiar way that resonates with families everywhere.”

The new animated kids series will be distributed by Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana division and is co-produced by Sinking Ship and Scott Brothers Entertainment. Sinking Ship Entertainment is a production, distribution, VFX and interactive studio that specializes in content for children and families.

“We are thrilled that this project was able to attract such diverse talent, both emerging and established, who can authentically speak to the experiences of the characters in this community,” said Sinking Ship Entertainment’s Carla de Jong.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana division is a Canada-based animation and live-action entertainment studio that specializes in licensed children’s franchises.

Nelvana recently signed on their longtime partner Discovery Kids Latin America as part of its first international distribution deal for Builder Brothers Dream Factory in the region. The Builder Brothers Dream Factory animated series will premiere on March 26, 2023 on the Treehouse children’s TV network.

“Builder Brothers Dream Factory is a welcome addition to our kids portfolio, and Treehouse and STACKTV provide the perfect platform to deliver this entertaining series to our Canadian audiences,” said Nelvana Enterprises’ Mellany Welsh. “Drew and Jonathan are world-renowned for making dreams come true and thinking outside the box, which are values we share at Nelvana. We are excited to collaborate with Sinking Ship Entertainment and Scott Brothers Entertainment and look forward to inspiring kids to dream big by embarking on an adventure with the Builder Brothers that is full of transformation, creativity, and resilience.”

Treehouse can be streamed via Corus Entertainment’s STACKTV platform, in addition to Amazon Prime Video Channels, FuboTV, Rogers Ignite TV and Ignite Streaming. The network is also available through all major TV distributors including Bell, Cogeco, Eastlink, Rogers, SaskTel, Shaw, Shaw Direct, Telus and Videotron.
