TeamTO Adapts Elisabeth: Princess of Versaille As Animated Series

October 4, 2023

TeamTO has acquired the rights to adapt the Elisabeth: Princess of Versailles book series into an animated production.

TeamTO  is a French childrens’ entertainment company that focuses on producing film and TV content based on both licensed and internally-developed IP.

TeamTO’s productions air on broadcasting and streaming channels across the globe such as Netflix, Cartoon Network, YouTube, Canal+, ITV, France-TV and Super RTL.

“Elisabeth, a real historical figure, is a rebel who represents how conformity and societal rules can be resisted and challenged, an engaging concept for children in today’s modern world,” said TeamTO SVP, Corinne Kouper. “She is a strong character who reminds us that girls with mathematical brains and leadership skills did actually exist throughout history—they were just forgotten about by history writers. This uniquely French story is waiting to be told by a French studio and our whole team is thrilled to take on the challenge!”

New Animated Series Collaboration Has the Recipe For Success

TeamTO’s latest project, Elisabeth: Princess of Versailles, is based on the real-life younger sister of King Louis XVI.

Written by Annie Jay and illustrated by Ariane Delrieu, the Elisabeth: Princess of Versailles book series follows Princess Elisabeth as she makes new friends and uses her mathematical and leadership skills to investigate mysteries in the palace of Versailles.

First published by the kids editorial label Albin Michel in 2015, the Elisabeth: Princess of Versailles novel series currently includes twenty-six volumes and is available in print, audio and ebook form.

“We are so excited to be telling stories about Versailles from a girl’s point of view,” said TeamTO CDP, Mary Bredin. “This provides a very fresh perspective into this unique world which will make the characters and their challenges resonate with children all over the world. The classic Princess story is universal, but a smart Princess is what the world needs today—and Elisabeth is just that!”

TeamTO recently relocated its Paris office into a new eco-friendly and energy efficient CG animation studio which will cut their carbon foot print by approximately 63 percent.

“I’m so proud of the work achieved by our entire team, from technical to production, who over the past four years were able to imagine, develop, and create this incredible, artist-centered, and forward-thinking animation studio,” said TeamTO co-founder, Guillaume Hellouin. “The result is truly amazing, it is a nest that will nurture the next generation of talent for the next 15 years!”

The plans for the new office were created following fifteen years of environmental research conducted at TeamTO by the company’s CTO Jean-Baptiste Spieser, its full technical team and Hellouin.
